YouTube Beauty Videos!

I am now making beauty videos for my channel on YouTube, IcklePixiesBeautyFix! My user name is Icklepixie1. I will be posting beauty hauls, reviews, tutorials (although I am not a make up artist!) & more beauty inspired videos. I'm very excited to get this going and I'm hoping to upload videos weekly. I decided to do this as I REALLY enjoy watching the videos made by the beauty community on YouTube very much. My love affair with make up started many years ago but I only looked up make up on YouTube around a year ago. It all started with me searching for make up tutorials when I purchased the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows Vol ll and wanted to get a few ideas for some creative looks. I  found them on Panacea81's channel  & was really inspired to start experimenting with different colours (other than the usual very natural shades I always wear!). So that's how I came to start making videos - now I'll see where it takes me!

Quite Cute Goodies.

Yesterday Morning there was a knock on my door. "I wonder who that could be at this time?". As I got to the door I suddenly realised that I could see a black box - YIPPEE I know that box from a mile off! It was a very quick delivery as I only ordered the products in the very wee hours of Monday morning. I had ordered three items from the, Quite Cute collection at Mac. I am getting into the colours of Spring now - especially peaches and corals. I purchased the lipstick in Playing Koi which is a pale peach colour very much like Hue lipstick but with a satin finish so it's a slightly different texture. I also bought the mineralise blush in Giggly which is a very pretty pink colour with a purple heart in the middle that mix together to make a very pretty blush. The final item is the lip liner in Naked as I don't own any nude lip liners & will also look great with Playing Koi. These are very Spring like colours and I highly recommend the lip sticks, blush, lip liners & the nail polishes are very pretty colours too. I'm really happy with my purchase & I'm looking forward to trying them all out.

A Match Made In Heaven

I knew that I wanted Marquise d' lippy & Emancipation lip gloss as soon as I looked at the swatches for the Wonder Woman collection. So as soon as I received my email telling me the collection was available online, sure enough I was ordering these items within minutes! I eagerly awaited their arrival and I received my parcel three days later with much anticipation. A lot of people aren't too keen on the packaging but I really like it and think it suits the Wonder Woman theme brilliantly. Marquise d' is a sandy peach colour and is a Lustre finish which I really like. The packaging of the lipstick is my favourite of all the products in this collection and the lipstick is a pretty colour that will go with most looks. Emancipation is a beautiful peachy colour with a bit of shimmer. I love the big wand as I find it easier to apply the gloss in one stroke. My only negatives are that when you pull the wand out, gloss splatters out of the tube due to the top being to tight. Also the gloss sticks together and forms blobs if I'm not careful to keep smoothing it out. All that said, the products are really beautiful and look fab used separately for a lighter look or used together to create a more impactful look. Great for all skin colours especially fair to medium. Highly recommended!

I Got Pink Power!

I had been waiting for the Mac Mineralize Skin Finish, Pink Power to be released for sale on the Mac UK website. Weeks passed and the only thing I knew was that it would be, "Coming Soon"  (as described on the site). Sooo, I was meeting my cousin in Meadowhall and had a few spare minutes which I spent looking around Mac situated in Debenhams. At this point I wasn't thinking about the Wonder Women collection and was actually looking to buy Pretty Please lipstick or Plink! lipstick. Suddenly I spied The bright packaging of the Wonder Women collection and realised that I still wanted Pink Power, so instantly went to the nearest member of staff to ask for one. She came trotting over with a box - YES! I got the second to last one. I also asked for plink! but she must have got a bit mixed up  as  I ended up with Politely Pink - Pretty Please was out of stock. I really didn't mind as it's a really pretty colour. Anyway, the Pink Power Mineralize Skin Finish is gorgeous. I thought it was going to be one of them items that are way over hyped but I can honestly say I love it. You get a light, non-orangey bronzer, a shimmery pink blush and a pale pink highlighter. You can use them separately (which is what I usually do) or swirl different parts together to customise.  All in all a well rounded product and well worth the money as it is exactly double the size of the usual Mineralize Skin Finish. So if you're interested in purchasing it, get it now if it's still available - I've already seen it on Ebay for forty quid plus extortionate postage rates! Oh and I also purchased Emancipation lipgloss and Marquise d' lipstick from the website which are also lovely and deserve their own blog post which I am now going to do.

Finally - My Skin Type!

This may seem strange to some of you who have always been very sure of your skin type, but I have only just - after 27 years - figured out what skin type I have! For years I have suffered with spots and have nearly always got at least one spot on my face, most of the time. I also have large pores. After considering this information I came up with the reasoning that I must have oily skin. Wrong! I used many washes, creams, scrubs, etc, to help my seemingly oily skin, but all that seemed to happen was my skin would be left feeling uncomfortable and tight. It never felt soft and moisturised and just looked like a shrivelled prune if I tried using any type of foundation! I then thought that I must be reacting to these strong lotions & potions. This must have meant that I had sensitive skin then? Wrong again! I tried plenty of products made especially for sensitive skin, but still no improvement. This all happened over a time period of about fifteen years, so it wasn't as if I hadn't given each product time to work. I know that you should give your skin at least thirty days to get used to a skin care product as it takes this amount of time for the skin to shed that will still have got last months worth of product on it. Sooo, just lately, I was scanning the shelves of Boots in Sheffield when I was approached by a lovely lady who looked suspiciously like a doctor, but was actually one of the Clinique counter staff! She asked if she could help me in any way and as I was about to refuse her help I suddenly thought, "Yes, you can tell me what skin type I have". She took me over to her spinning silver stool and sat me down. She felt my face and asked me a few questions and after much deliberation, decided that I actually had dry skin. I then left the Clinique counter and went over to the La Roche Posay skin care (cheeky). I then purchased a few products to start a new skin care routine and "Viola" it worked and I now have softer skin and no tightness. I still get the spots but I think that's more to do with my body's chemistry. All thanks to the lady at Clinique, Thank you!

My Very First Post!

Hi my name is Claire and I love cosmetics! I have liked beauty products since being around the age of 10 (yes I know, young) but I'm now in LOVE! I've worn make up since I was 11 - just a bit of eye shadow and tinted lip balm - and have now developed a sense of style to suit me & my lifestyle. I have three children, all girls - to share my love of cosmetics, when they're older of course! The eldest is Jaycee (aka ickle pixie) who is five years old - going on 25! Then the next one down is Kyla (aka ickle pumpkin) - 1 year old and cheeky as hell! Last but definitely not least is my little baby, Alyssa (aka ickle petal) - 5 months old. Their gorgeous daddy is Jay, who is constantly surrounded by us women and treats us all like princess', bless him:) Any way, I am starting my blog to connect with other people who are also interested in beauty, my friends aren't in to it like me and look at me like I'm crazy when I say something along the lines of, "I use Era or Wedge as a transitional colour"! I'm going to try and update my blog at least once a week, or more if possible as I am usually quite busy with the Kids, etc. Thanks for reading and be sure to return for lots of posts coming up on my favourite beauty products and more! Bye for now, Claire.xxx
